It was at the beginning of the 20th century that Gerhard Lang, a publisher from Munich, invented the first printed calendar. Inspired by his mother, who gave him an illustrated board with 24 religious images every year, he decided to create a commercial version.
These calendars quickly gained popularity and were developed into illustrated cardboard with opening windows, often containing an image or a Bible verse.
