Back to Routine with Tea: 3 Simple Steps to Find Your Rhythm Again

After the holidays, we all need something to hold onto. Back to school, back to the office, the diary filling up again — a tea ritual is the pause that puts everything back in order. No need to overhaul your schedule: a daily tea routine takes just three simple moments, spread across the day.

1. Morning: a brew that wakes you up

In the morning, the goal is to get going without one too many coffees — the kind that jolts you awake in ten minutes and leaves you flagging by eleven. A black tea or a full-bodied green tea does the same job, more gently and for longer: caffeine is released gradually, without the crash that follows.

  • Black tea: for a clean energy lift, close to coffee but without the acidity.
  • Full-bodied green tea (sencha, Chinese green tea): a more vegetal, lighter wake-up that's kinder on the stomach.

The ritual: steep your cup while you pack the school bag or fire off your first email. By the time your tea is ready, you've already carved out a minute of calm from the morning rush.

2. Afternoon: a break that recentres you

Between meetings, or between marking homework, there's that point in the day when concentration starts to slip. That's exactly when an afternoon tea break earns its place: five minutes entirely your own, away from the screen, to come back with a clearer head.

No need for another caffeine hit — the idea is to take a proper break, not to pile stimulants on top of one another. A flavoured tea or an indulgent blend, sipped slowly, does the job beautifully.

3. Evening: an infusion that soothes

To close the day gently, we shift register entirely: this is the moment for rooibos or a herbal tea, completely caffeine-free, so as not to disrupt your sleep. It's when the routine truly becomes a ritual — a warm cup in your hands, a little stillness before the house winds down for the night.

The evening ritual counts double at this time of year: it marks the real end of the day — the moment you stop thinking about tomorrow.

A routine, not a chore

Three moments, three times a day — that's all it takes for tea to become a genuine anchor through a busy back-to-school season. The right tea isn't necessarily the rarest or the most expensive: it's the one that finds its place in your day, and that you look forward to again tomorrow.
