Summer Orchards — Why this iced infusion mattered so much to us
By Trevor, UK Tea Academy certified tea sommelier, and Celine, consumer psychology expert.
A Belgian summer deserves better than soda
There's a moment, every year, that we all wait for without quite naming it. The one where the sun lingers above the garden until 10 p.m. Where we move the table outside. Where we open the fridge looking for something to drink that isn't sugary, isn't industrial, isn't dull.
That's exactly the moment we created Summer Orchards for.
An iced infusion of apple and pear. Caffeine-free. No added sugar. 100% natural. Designed to be sipped slowly, from a carafe, shared — not gulped down standing at the sink.
Why apple and pear (and not yet another peach iced tea)
Trevor: "When I was asked which fruit infusion the Belgian landscape was missing, I didn't hesitate. The iced tea market is saturated with peach, lemon, southern berries imported from afar. But apple and pear — those are our fruits. The fruits of the orchards of Hesbaye, Wépion, the Meuse valley. The fruit our grandmothers turned into compote."
Apple and pear don't shout. They whisper. That's exactly what we wanted:
- Apple brings a naturally sweet, juicy roundness — instantly recognisable.
- Pear adds a floral, almost honeyed delicacy that lingers in the finish.
Together they create what sommeliers call a "soft & long" profile: gentle on the attack, persistent on the finish. An infusion that never overwhelms, but isn't easily forgotten.
How to cold-brew it (the proper way)
Most supermarket "iced teas" are brewed hot then cooled — which destroys the most volatile aromas. We cold-brew, properly.
Trevor: "Cold-brewing extracts aromas slowly, without bitterness. The result is finer, cleaner, more alive. It's the method used in luxury hotels — but it takes 10 minutes at home."
The Summer Orchards method
- Pour one sachet into 1 litre of cold water (chilled tap or filtered water).
- Let infuse 10 minutes at room temperature — or overnight in the fridge for maximum intensity.
- Serve over ice, and — on heatwave days — add a few slices of green apple or a fresh mint leaf.
No syrup. No sugar. No "natural flavours" hiding in brackets on the label. Just two fruits and water.

Why this infusion embodies what Teatower stands for
Summer Orchards isn't just a seasonal novelty. It's a statement of purpose on three fronts (and to learn more about our approach, here's who we are):
1. Seasonality as a principle, not a marketing line
Celine: "The brands that endure are the ones that respect time. Summer Orchards won't exist in December — and that is precisely what gives it value. We're offering an appointment with a season. That's what the modern consumer, saturated with permanent products, is desperately searching for."

2. Natural, no compromise
No caffeine, no added sugar, no artificial flavour. For children, for pregnant women, for caffeine-sensitive drinkers — and for anyone who's learned to read labels. An infusion you can serve without having to justify it. See also our organic selection.
3. Ritual rather than consumption
A carafe on the table, a tasting with the family, a summer afternoon shared. Summer Orchards isn't a stopgap drink — it's a ritual object. That's what has separated, from day one, what Teatower makes from supermarket tea.
For whom, at what moment
Celine: "When you design a product, you must be able to name the scene where it will be drunk. If you can't, it hasn't found its place yet."
Summer Orchards was designed for:
- Sunday brunch on the terrace, as an alternative to champagne or orange juice.
- The alcohol-free aperitif — with a slice of lime, it becomes a credible mocktail.
- The summer afternoon snack for children, in place of soda.
- The office break when it's 28 °C and another coffee is unthinkable.
- Bed & breakfasts and restaurants wanting a drinks list worthy of their kitchen.
